T2540 is a type of antiwear EP additive with a high content of active sulfur, suitable for cutting and forming ferrous metals in harsh conditions, such as carbon steel, cast iron, stainless steel, etc. It can be used for various metal processing oils, gear oils, and greases, especially recommended for turning, drilling, grinding, tapping, etc. Process can be used alone, or can be used together with other extreme pressure anti-wear additives (sulfurized fat, chlorinated paraffin, synthetic ester) to achieve the best effect, but can not be used for copper and aluminum non-ferrous metal processing.

General Description


Commonly used sulfur-containing extreme pressure antiwear additives mainly include butylene vulcanized grease and vulcanized esters, thiocarbonates, dithiocarbamates, and polyalkali compounds.

Their sulfur content is 40% to 45%. This type of sulfide has good stability, high extreme pressure resistance, and light color, but the sulfur-containing extreme pressure agent has poor wear resistance. Because the sulfur-containing extreme pressure agent reacts chemically with the metal surface under high temperature and high pressure to form an iron sulfide film. Iron sulfide has good heat resistance, so the sintering load of sulfur-containing extreme pressure agents is high, but the iron sulfide film is brittle, so its wear resistance is poor.

A widely used product among sulfur-containing extreme-pressure antiwear additives is sulfurized iso-butylene (T321). It is characterized by high sulfur content, good oil solubility, and moderate chemical activity, so it is less corrosive to copper. It can be used as an extreme pressure agent for cutting oil, gear oil, hydraulic oil, metal processing oil, etc., and is especially suitable for the preparation of Gear Oil.
